From Book to Brainsbook: A journey into the networked future of knowledge
May 15th marked the online birth of the
“Brainsbook on Networking” - created by Selma Prodanovic (picture)
representing SICU as a global partner in Vienna – an exciting new
social platform which combines knowledge and opportunity, sharing
and diversity, Web 2.0 and the publishing world.
At
Brainsbook.com,
founded by Selma Prodanovic (picture) representing Brainswork and
SICU as a global partner in Vienna, every internet user is invited
to try their skills at sharing their knowledge, ideas and
experiences on the global phenomenon on networking – and then vote
and critically review other users’ contributions.
In early 2009, a printed volume with the best contributions – the world’s first Brainsbook – will be published and presented at global level.
Networking is a global phenomenon
Networking
is a global phenomenon, a notion that has become clear not least
since Time Magazine proclaimed the millions of Web 2.0 users sharing
and creating knowledge on the internet as their Person of the Year
in 2006. The use of networking platforms has doubled since the
beginning of 2007.
Facebook, XING, LinkedIn, Naymz...
Facebook, MySpace XING, LinkedIn, Naymz – to name but a few – are riding on a wave of ever increasing popularity and opening new horizons in internet use. In fact, one in three internet users today are members of at least one community and have a profile, shared space, blog – or any other way of communicating a part of their life online – on a site somewhere in the World Wide Web.
In the hyperconnected world, no corner of the world is remote: responsible knowledge sharing fosters sustainable development and cultural preservation throughout our planet.
